CDMS is a Web Document Management System. It is useful to publish, organize and search documents on web sites.
It allows to upload files of any type (e.g. doc, pdf, xls, jpg, gif, zip, etc) and size (there are fixed size limits for security purposes but the site administrator can change them).
CDMS can be used in different contexts and in many situations, for example as a repository of documents in a company site or as an image gallery in an amateur site or as a blog in a personal site.
It helps site administrators to work on documents (document publishing and organizing in folders) and site visitors to search and read documents.
CDMS is very useful for workgroups, site administrators can create groups of users and give them some privileges (e.g. document management, folder management, user management, look&feel changing, document locking etc.).
CDMS authenticates users and only authorizes allowed actions.
Login
CDMS uses authentication and authorization mechanisms so users must login to the application to use it.
Only administrators and authorized users can create new users.
Master-Detail
CDMS uses a master-detail interface to display data.
The master interface displays a list of objects, and the detail interface implements an inspector of the selected object.
The master interface is implemented by a table view and the detail interface is a form view located on a separate page.
The detail interface works in two different modes, the view mode only displays the properties of the document while the edit mode allows properties to be edited and saved.

Control Panel
Administrators and authorized users can use a control panel to change application settings like look&feel, file types, user management, group management, document management, site statistics.
